EDUCATION:
- B.S.,
Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Purdue University,
1985
-
Ph.D., Entomology, Purdue University, 1990.
DEPARTMENT
HEAD RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administration
of teaching and research functions of the Department
-
Discipline liaison with Cooperative Extension Service
-
Disciplinary support of faculty at research and
extension centers statewide
-
Represent discipline to state agencies, commodity
groups and general public
GENERAL
AREAS OF INTEREST:
-
Biological
Control of Insects and Weeds, Invasive Species
SPECIFIC
AREAS OF RESEARCH:
- Dr.
Wiedenmann has conducted basic and applied research
on biological control of insects and weed pests,
and on the biology of parasitic and predaceous insects.
His interests center on the foraging strategies
of parasitic Hymenoptera that attack stemboring
Lepidoptera; biological control of purple loosestrife,
garlic mustard and teasel (exotic, invasive weeds);
and integration of transgenic technology into IPM.
