Dwight Isely Award

The Isely Outstanding M.S. and Ph.D. Student Awards recognize students whose performance has been outstanding in academics, research and service. Recipients receive a plaque and a cash award (M.S. $400, Ph.D. $600).
The nomination and selection processes for the Isely Awards are as follows:

1. A call for nominations is issued by the Chair of the Awards, Scholarships, Fellowships Committee - January 1.

2. Letters of nomination may be submitted by the major advisor, another faculty member or student. The deadline for submission is February 1 . Nominees must not have completed their degree program at the time of presentation of the award (mid-April). Nominees must not have previously received the award (M.S. or Ph.D.) for which they are nominated. The letter of nomination should provide: a. Evidence of outstanding academic performance as a M.S. or Ph.D. student. b. Evidence of significant contributions and progress in research, e.g. annual student progress reports, presentations at professional meetings, leadership, cooperation in dealing with faculty, students, staff and other researchers, publication record for Ph.D. candidates (published, in press or in review); and c. Evidence of significant contributions in service and leadership to the department, college, university, nation and professional societies, e.g. participation in committees, departmental functions, Entomology Club, Linnaean team, seminars, lecturer series, Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society of Agriculture, Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, Entomological Society of America, Commodity meetings, etc.;

3. A copy of the nominee's vita must be attached to the letter of nomination;

4. A copy of the nominee's transcript or a list of the nominee's completed coursework and corresponding grades while pursuing the present degree at the University of Arkansas must also be attached to the letter of nomination;

5. The Committee will review the nominations and prepare recommendations for submission to the faculty. The final selection will be made by the faculty;

6. The Award(s) will be presented at the College Honors Day Convocation. In any given year should no nominations be received by the February 1 deadline or should none of the nominees (either M.S. or Ph.D.) has an outstanding academic, research and service record, the Award will not be presented.
